On this 1 or 2-day trekking route, we'll walk along the La Ciénaga de Tafí del Valle trail to cross the spectacular landscapes of the summits of Tucumán.
After picking you up at your hotel in Yerba Buena at the indicated time, we'll start this adventure by heading to the end of the Avenida de los Franciscanos, in Tafí del Valle. There, we'll set off along the La Ciénaga trail, which will take us to explore one of the most special landscapes in Tucumán.
We'll start the trekking route of 20 kilometres (12 miles) in total by walking the first uphill part. This initial part will take us approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Upon arrival, we'll take a well-deserved break to admire the ochre-coloured valley at our feet.
After this break, we'll set off towards the La Ciénaga cross. At a steady pace and when you least expect it, we'll reach our destination, which will be clear once you see the impressive viewpoint! Get your cameras out, because the landscape here is adorned with an incredible panoramic view of El Mollar and the peaks of Ñuñorco Grande, Pelado and Muñoz.
The rest of the route will take us through wide meadows that play with green, yellow, blue and ochre colours—a true work of nature's art! Passing through the breathtaking scenery of Tafí del Valle, the Calchaquíes and Mala Mala peaks, we'll reach the mountain lodge of La Ciénaga.
We'll enjoy a delicious lunch at this refuge while discovering this beautiful spot of only about 10 mud and straw houses surrounded by hills. Feeling refuelled, we'll make our way back to the vehicle that will take us back to Yerba Buena.
Finally, we'll say goodbye back at your hotel 12 hours after the initial pickup.
Are you still hungry for more? If so, this is the ideal option for you. In this case, on the first day, we'll follow the same itinerary described in the previous section. The big difference will be that we'll have more time and that, when we arrive at the hostel in La Ciénaga, we'll spend the afternoon enjoying this peaceful community.
In the late afternoon, we'll gather to watch the sunset over Tafí del Valle while enjoying a snack. You'll fall in love with the ochre landscapes that turn to gold in the light of the setting sun. In the evening, we'll enjoy a dinner to say goodbye to the day.
The second day will start with a breakfast that will give us the energy to start the return trek. When we reach the end of the route, we'll enjoy lunch in Tafí del Valle.
Finally, we'll return to Yerba Buena and drop you off at your hotel around 2:30 pm.
This activity includes pickup from hotels in the centre of Yerba Buena. If you're staying in another area, you'll have to make your own way to the meeting point at the corner between plaza de la Independencia and avenida 9 de Julio.
